After eight years of development hell and production drama, the movie Queen fans have been waiting for has finally arrived.

Is it a killer flick or does it bite the dust? The answer is unequivocal: If you want to have a good time, check out Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie will rock you.

An entertaining biopic from start to finish with marvellous performances by the cast – led flawlessly by Rami Malek –Bohemian Rhapsody is a must-see for fans of Freddie Mercury and Queen.

220px-Bohemian_Rhapsody_poster copyMalek is sensational as he transforms into Mercury, capturing the rock legend’s accent and channelling his flamboyant costumes as he struts across several stages. He is a thrill to watch and delivers a flawless performance, making Malek a worthy Oscar candidate.

But he also has an incredible supporting cast to back him up with Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy and Joseph Mazzello as Mercury’s fellow band members.

Also notable is a hilarious appearance by Mike Myers as a record executive who tells Queen no one will ever bang their heads in a car to the song Bohemian Rhapsody – a nod to Wayne’s World where Myers’ character Wayne is headbanging to the song in the car.

It is clear this is a movie for the fans, celebrating the band’s life story and there is no doubt music lovers will be entertained.

Director Bryan Singer (The X-Men films, The Usual Suspects) has made Bohemian Rhapsody an enjoyable and entertaining film, and the screenplay by Anthony McCarten is well crafted, balancing the dramatic with a number of humorous moments throughout.

When you add to the mix the rock group’s iconic music, stylish costumes and production designs, Bohemian Rhapsody is exactly the film it set out to be.

Catch Bohemian Rhapsody at a cinemas near you from November 1.
