Billed as entertainment for all ages, this one is directed primarily to younger kids, but the acrobatic, juggling and aerial expertise feats on offer should impress older siblings as well as adults.
Hosted by a suitably mad contortionist Mad Hatter (Tamara Campbell), the party also involves the March Hare (Daniel Gorski), an acrobatic Caterpillar (Casey Douglas), a very supple and often airborne Cheshire Cat (Marianna Joslin), a roller-skating and out of control Red Kween (Mozes, who has a few other tricks under his own hat as well), a juggling White Rabbit (Tim Dennis) and a very pink and feathered Flamingo (Alicia Rose Quinn, aka Lou P).
Tea cups tumble, sugar cubes fly and the fourth wall is enthusiastically dismantled. Children are encouraged to join in the mayhem. I can report that hurling huge sugar cubes back to the stage and the antics of the Cheshire Cat and were extremely popular with my two companions (aged eight).
The 60-minute show is directed by Mike Finch, former artistic director of Circus Oz, and it’s at The Grand Electric, Cleveland Street, Surry Hills, until 25 January.
