Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson

If you thought politics in Australia was rough, wait until you meet President Jackson.

America’s 7th President, a kicker of British butt, shafter of Indians and punk rock political superstar is itching to show you his stimulus package.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, a hilarious, moving and utterly exhilarating, 90-minute white knuckled look at the corrupt colonial past of America, Jackson is gonna ruin the banks, cripple the courts, take on the world and reclaim his country from the natives. And the will of the people is not going to stand in his way.

The surprise Broadway smash of 2010, this rollicking historical revue (by way of Saturday Night Live via Green Day) bursts on the Factory stage in Oz for the first time from the people who brought you Reefer Madness and A New Brain.

With a kick-ass band and a stand-out cast of Sydney’s finest musician actors including Peter Meredith (Jekyll & Hyde), Toby Francis (The King Is Dead, Long Live the Queen) and Louise Kelly (Mamma Mia), Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackon is going to rock your socks off in a way historical docudrama-comedies have never done before.

The show, written by Alex Timbers with music and lyrics by Michael Friedman, is directed by Craig Stewart (A New Brain) and stars Pontus Aleryd, Toby Francis, Jay James-Moody, Bridget Keating, Louise Kelly, Phil McIntosh, Peter Meredith, Max Newstead, Abi Rayment, Monique Sallé, Aimee Timmins and Richard Woodhouse. Musical director is Mark Chamberlain (Jersey Boys) and choreography is from Monique Sallé (A Chorus Line).

Sure it’s a history lesson – but history just got sexy.

Don’t miss this limited engagement Australian premiere season at the Factory Floor, Factory Theatre Victoria Road, Marrickville, until September 1.
