Gareth Davies and Charlie Garber give a Masterclass at the Old Fitzroy Hotel

Gareth Davies and Charlie Garber rebirth their deliciously funny and masterful play Masterclass to launch Red Line Production’s 2015 theatre season at the Old Fitz Theatre.

Join Davies and Garber as they explore their hugely imaginative ‘dream forge’ while simultaneously introducing the audience to the deadly hilarious past of Gareth (played by Gareth Davies) whose performances are so powerful they can literally blow an audience’s mind.

With an opening much like a seminar, the boys reveal there is in fact no place nor time for learning as they discover the meaning of not only art but of Gareth’s soul. Davies and Garber throw everything at the audience that a good deadpan comedy should: contemporary dance, audience interactivity (minus the interactivity) and a series of the finest mimes you will see on stage.

The beautiful bromance fluttering on stage evolves into an existential comment on life, relationships and the complex connection between the creator and the creation. Davies and Garber reference the prodigal son parable and Frankenstein ideals of what it is to be human as they explore the concept of time and memory.

This play is an eccentric but undoubtedly entertaining comedy, a treat for all those who enjoy a good laugh and a great performance. The ingenuity of this hilarious duo permeates the play resulting in an overflow of emotions and powerful stage presence that lends a lot of pizzazz to this excellent bromance comedy.

Masterclass is a definite must watch. See it at the Old Fitzroy Theatre, Woolloomooloo until January 31. Tickets $20, oldfitztheatre.com
