Besides an actual education, high school days also come with the added burdens of a struggle to survive and fit in, peer pressure, search for self-identity, and – for some – the need to save the world by kicking ass!
Kick-Ass 2 pays homage to comic book graphic violence that seems hell-bent on taking high school education to a new level.
Following in the successful steps of its 2010 predecessor, Kick-Ass, this new superhero action comedy is an interesting mix ‘n-match of movies like Spiderman and Watchmen.
Based on the highly violent comic books of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr, Kick-Ass 2 continues the tale of vigilante superheroes “Dave” Lizewski/Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Mindy Macready/Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz).
The plot expands on the scenario set up in the prequel when Kick-Ass’s insane bravery inspires a new wave of masked crusaders led by bad-ass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey).
When Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) – reborn as The Mother F%&*^r – hunts down these amateur superheroes, only blade-wielding Hit Girl can prevent their annihilation.
With graduation looming, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy. But when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by born-again ex-mobster Colonel Stars and Stripes.
Kick-Ass and Hit Girl desperately try to live a normal life but find they “can’t escape their destiny” to fight crime.
Just as they start to make a difference on the streets, super villain the Mother F%&*^r forms his own evil league to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his father. But he discovers that if you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.
Written and directed by Jeff Wadlow, this film promises bloody, violent and profanity-filled screen escapades.
Kiss-Ass 2 is due for release in Australian Cinemas on August 22.
