Who can challenge the runaway Roar?

From the start of the 2013/14 A-League season, Brisbane Roar have easily been the most consistent and dominant performers culminating in their 4 point lead heading into the New Year period.

The Western Sydney Wanderers have continued their very consistent start to life in the A-League with six wins and five draws and only one loss that sees them lying second at this stage, putting them in a strong position to earn a possible second consecutive Grand Final appearance.

Only six points separate third placed Melbourne Victory down to Perth Glory who are in eighth place, with Wellington Pheonix a further three points behind as John Aloisi’s Melbourne Heart remain in last position.

The Heart are in need of a strong resurgence at the start of 2014 if they are to have any hope of featuring in the finals of season 2013/14.

With 15 rounds to play after the completion of round 12 at Bluetongue Stadium on New Year’s Eve, there is plenty of time for positions to change and for teams to surge or slide in their performances. Teams who dominate early in a season do not always go on to win the league.

At this point however, the men from Queensland are setting the standard for others to catch up and they have plenty of experienced campaigners in their squad to propel them to success this season.
