For all those who are stressed, worried or upset about all of life’s uncontrollable situations, there’s a remedy available: the Hispanic Artistic Expression (HAE) society has staged a fantastic heart-felt comedy, 100m2, that will literally leave you wanting to hug the cast after the play is over.

The melodramatic music, an enchanting guitar solo by the male lead (played by director Alexander
Palacio), funny and believable characters, and a simple but brilliant script by Juan Carlos Rubio  make this play sublimely sensational.

100m2—presented in Spanish with English subtitles—begins with the story of 35-year-old life
insurance agent Sara (played by Angela Rosero). With the help of a totally idiotic sales agent, to escape her husband she finds a perfect apartment, except that it comes with an aging 73-year-old owner Lola who wants to live there until her death.

Gradually both women, bitter and lonely,  conquer their inner demons with each other’s support.  There is a gold vein of humour that runs through the constant arguments and nagging between them as the play subtly explores the universal themes of friendship, death, and love.

100m2 embodies the ideology captured in John Lennon’s  famous words: “Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans …”

Loaded with laughter and interesting  plot twists, 100m2 is worth every cent of the ticket price.
